Yup. I got mice all the time. Yuck. Covers also help reduce heat escaping at night. They reduce evaporation, which is more significant than I thought over a hot summer. There’s a float valve that keeps-up the water level. On hot days, it clicks on/off all day. I got a cheap bubble cover and it largely stopped...Might help to keep out unwanted guests like snake and squirrels. Helps cut down on cleaning time when you don't have to clean all the leaves that blew in over night.

That was before the pool opened this year. I wanted a shot that had some depth to it to show the camera's capabilities.Why would they cover the pool on this summer heat?
