Picking up a X-Star 4k (premium I guess?) used. I just returned my Mavic Air. My range with it has been HORRID with constant video break up so back to the store it goes. Anyway, for the price I cant beat the Autels right now. Now i was reading they use 900mhz which i like to hear for the extended range/penetration I know they dont perform as well as DJI's Occusync/Lightbridge but hoping with some possible mods/upgrades i can squeeze a bit more out of it.

Welcome to the forums.

Both X-Star WiFi and Premium have a 4K camera.

The Mavic Air is WiFi so the range will be about the same as a X-Star WiFi, which in a good day is about a mile? They do advertise the Air to reach 2 miles, not sure about that.

The X Star does not run in the 900mhz frequency. That was considered for the Autel Evo, but later scrapped. Both X Star and Evo run on the 2.4Ghz frequency. You can consider using a wind surfers for better range.

Ah no the X-Star premium runs on 900 MHZ & 5.8 Ghz

Really? Now I want one! ?

I always thought it ran on the 2.4Ghz like all the competition. Just thinking of the range and the things I can achieve with while flying in that frequency. I wonder why Autel scrapped it for the Evo.

Meh. I feel like a kid that was offered Ice Cream, only to be taken to the dentist.... I had hoped the drone operated in the 900mhz frequency. I see it's in the 5.8Ghz.

Had no problem with going two miles stock with 5.8 Ghz. Most where ticked off at the 900 Mhz not giving the expected video link so thats why we added the 4 Hawks antennas.

Good to hear. Well the 5.8ghz for RC is kinda a bummer wonder why they did that instead of 2.4 if video was 900. I dont plan to go too far out but in my area wifi interference was god awful. The air made is about 200ish meters before dropping video constantly.

Yeah. I doubt too many people are hanging on to those 900mhz cordless phones now days...

Does anyone have any example stills from the X Star specifically? I see plenty of the Evo.

All I can find is this, I rarely take stills, except by accident ;)
These might be a screen grabs too, I don’t remember E43997B7-B168-4F35-9826-0E836A71786A.jpeg4BCEBF2A-CAB9-40CA-BFA4-21688849CAC8.jpeg

Just a quick shot of the entrance to the subdivision. I have others but this one shows more detail because of the buildings from near to far.

My xStar has never made it half a mile. Farthest it has flown is around 2200 feet and video link becomes sketchy way before the remote link gives out causing return home. The video recording is great. I saw a YouTube video of someone testing an Evo and it went 3.5 miles.
