Hi
Just got a used Nano+ as my first "normal" drone, coming from diy fpvs, since it is <250g and has a decent camera / gimbal.
But so far it just feels insane how restriktiv everything is.

One of my intended use cases was filming fpvs during indoor races / freestyle, so flying with no / weak gps.
Did the research before buying and found many people mentioning that compared to the dji drones, autel ones do have atti / no gps mode.
Now i see that they apparently removed that inside the eu with the last firmware update (with the mention that a downgrade is not possible) and the previous owner updated the drone before selling.
Wow...

Is downgrading from 1.9.10 just "not supported" on paper or did they actually implement some firmware verification that prevents a downgrade (when flashing via sd card)?
I already have the 1.9.8 files thanks to another post here but wanted to ask if anyone has tried it first.

Also, does anyone have the full changelogs from all the old versions, the download page only shows what has changed in 1.9.10? (if there is an even more "free" firmware thats not missing any critical features)
If the firmware rollback via sd is in fact blocked, has anyone any information on lower level flash procedures via eeprom / serial or on which physical chip the main firmware is stored?
Can i just change the country to US (or somewhere that still has atti) since the drone cant verify it via gps anyway if it is indoor?

Thanks in advance for any help :-)

Edit:
Took a few hours but created a small collection of information about the internals of the Nano / Nano+ for firmware downgrades and other repairs,
hope someone finds it useful :-)

Downgrade Results from 1.9.10 so far

DO NOT TRY TO DOWNGRADE the drone by just putting an older firmware version on a SD Card,
the drone light may indicate a update / downgrade momentarily, but there are several user reports of drones being stuck / bricked afterwards.

I have a Lite + and have intentionally NOT upgraded to the December/2024 code because of the restrictions in that FW. I use an older Sky App on my iPad tablet which doesn't prompt for upgrades, etc. That said, I'm in the US and with the older 1.9.9 FW, I'm still FAA compliant. I'm not positive, but to be legal in the EU I think the December/2024 code is required if you're flying the Nano+ or Lite+. Again, I may be wrong on that. As for downgrading, several have asked that here and I'm not aware of anyone who has successfully done it. One pilot attempted it and his aircraft was completely unusable afterwards.

Compliance shouldnt be an issue for me (although it will likely legally not count as c0 without 1.9.10 here in eu),
the only difference in requirements in operating an officially certified C0 drone (stock nano+) and a full DIY sub 250g drone is that you need to get the small drone license (which is just an online exam), if you do that you are allowed to operate both type of drones in all the same airspace, in this case A1 ("above not involved people" aka even inside cities minus total no fly zones),
diy is actually a little bit more relaxed than c0 bc the speed limit and requirements for locked down manual control dont apply to them.
Besides that, both diy sub 250 and c0 drones need insurance up to 750k, need to be registered (if they have a camera) and do NOT need to have remote id.
So worst case if the nano+ doesnt comply with c0 anymore due to the old software or other mods, i can just register it as a diy, similar to any other full or partial self build / kit sub 250 quad.

Anyway i dont have the nano+ in hand yet, when i get it i will dissemble it and check if i can find something.
Does anyone have any schematics / repair diagrams or the changelogs of the different firmware versions?, that would help a lot in narrowing down what to look for
