Preferred settings for night flight?

Does anyone have any input as to the preferred settings for night flight? My Dual seems to have issues with Starpoint and any Downward Position systems at night. So I choose to turn everything off as a precaution. Collision avoidance is useless at dark anyways. It seems to get really mad when coming in for manual landing and swivels like crazy as it gets close to the ground once the landing light comes on.
