I'm looking for recommendations on the best video conversion software.

I need something that can handle various file formats, preserve high quality during conversion, and ideally offer batch processing.

Speed is also a factor, but I'm more concerned about maintaining video and audio quality.

I'm converting a mix of HD, 4K, and older video files, and I'd prefer a solution that can handle all of them efficiently.

Any suggestions for both free and paid options? Also, if there are any hidden features or settings I should know about, feel free to share!

Hands down, DaVinci Resolve Studio. One time fee of $300 when I bought it 5 years ago. I run it on Manjaro Linux and it's great!!!!!

You will not regret it.

I second that! But don't confuse it with the free version: Davinci Resolve (no 'Studio'). It's the same animal but doesn't render out resolutions above FHD.

I fully agree. I tried to run it on Linux Mint 22 but it just doesn't want to work. Maybe it will these days. It does run great on my Win10 editing computer though.

It costs but I use Adobe Rush and Premiere

I'm begging you... save your money! Get Handbrake! It's free, open source software, been around forever and is phenomenal. it's also a small, lightweight program. And yes, batch files no problem. Good luck!

I fully agree. I tried to run it on Linux Mint 22 but it just doesn't want to work. Maybe it will these days. It does run great on my Win10 editing computer though.

When I started down the Linux distro path, I started with Linux Mint. It's really good, but I wanted a rolling distro and landed on Manjaro Linux. Made the complete move around 2012 and haven't looked back. High-end software that includes DRS, QGIS, CloudCompare, Darktable, and 3D Blender all work great on Manjaro. Manjaro is based on the Arch branch and very stable. You should give it another try.
