Pair a new tablet?

I just purchased a new iPad mini 6 running iOS 15.1 and it will not connect with my Evo or controller. I tried deleting and reinstalling the app and I have tried changing cables with no success. My iPhone Xs running iOS 15.0.1 connects just fine. Does anyone out there have any idea about how to get that thing to connect?

It sounds like its a bug in that version of the OS. There are other reports of lost connectivity to USB devices after upgrading to that version. Problems like these are why I keep my 7yr old iPad mini in airplane mode and never update the firmware in my EVO II. I prefer the bugs I know to the ones I can't workaround.
