DIY Lanyard solution for Evo controller

never understood why these controllers didn't have a spot for a lanyard. Nice idea, I may have to try this.

Old laptop bag strap works a treat... and Tablet holder off Amazon for DJI with slight mod, cut plastic front strip off carefully, drill hole in back of holder and use original screw to secure it, it then clips underneath fine and very secure... £7.99 Amazon.

Cheers

Sounds like a great idea however I am not following just how you have made the modifications. What tablet holder from Amazon did you use exactly since there are many to chose from. Also what front strip did you cut off? More pics of the back would help please?

Hi, well of course more photos would help.... ha-ha... so I do all the leg work and then throw it out there... well as you asked with a please... I wouldn't do it for everyone... also have a few other mods if your interested, Floats, extended legs (1 1/2") Link to Amazon, there were two choices, both the same price seems to go up and down but only one has it in stock but you can get them elsewhere. Then Pics with brief explanation... small hacksaw and fine sand paper small drill about 2 - 3 mm I think.

This is for the EVO 1 and 2

Amazon link...

On the back you can also cut the last about 10 mm of bottom plastic off to tidy it up, there is a groove along the plastic you will see, just trim it off for a really tight fit, when drilling the hole for the screw it needs to be aligned quite well however the screw head is big so a margin of error is ok, I found as close back to the arm as you can go but allowing you to get the get the screw in. Finish off with fine sandpaper and tidy edges.

When you take the extender arm off, it is best to undo the through screw on the back at the bottom, takes a few seconds and leaves the rest all in place.

Let me know how you get on...

Cheers

I found using my old cell phone case (with or without the cell phone), and a few strips of heavy duty Velcro works rather well. I cut several inches of parachute cord and lassoed it around the base of the tablet stem and than attach a lanyard. So far...it has worked very well.

Regards,

Hi, Looks interesting... but its not just the aesthetics, you have all of the weight on the single screw, it.wont last long I doubt even though it does have a brass insert in the plastic... hence using the holder it distributes the weight across and around the controller, I've had my old and very heavy 10 1/2 tablet in there without a creak.... also I did use a piece of Velcro on the bottom of the arm to give it just that bit more stability but it doesn't really need it.... so for me it is the weight, I hang the whole thing round my neck, walk around, bending over and solid as a rock...

Cheers

Regards,
I use the same location to clip my neckstrap on, as it keeps the connection closer to the center of gravity with an iPad attached on an extender bracket to the phone mount. Less stress on the fragile phone mount when connecting around it's base with a doubled over ladies hair tie, which is basically a cloth covered rubber band. ?

Hi, OK, each to their own and using the phone case was a very good idea, but the weight I still think is a concern and as you also said "Fragile" mount, and to be honest, IMHO I think you will agree it does look a bit naff... for 9.99 and a bit of modding gives you loads of options apart from a snapped of screw... you would find the CoG changes with the new mount and gets closer to you so easy to hold parallel, soon get used to it... Cheers
