Yes, I was specifically referring to the QMA connectors on a modified V1 standard controller. The connectors easily snap on and off, so you can store the Alientech Pro amplified antenna separately, which takes up no more space than the standard controller itself. The 2.4 Ghz Alientech Pro is half the size of the dual band one, which provides no benefit on any V1 controller, since there is no 5.8 Ghz support.
The directionality of the Alientech Pro is its strength, not a weakness. If you are interested in maximum range, you aren't looking for an omnidirectional antenna, since you never fly behind yourself. The beamwidth is roughly 55°, and using the compass in the Explorer app will allow you to always point the controller at the aircraft by keeping the line between you and it vertical.
Horizontal Beamwidth:2.4GHz 55°±5°
You get what you pay for.
The stock V1 range is a mile in my area. It sucks!
SC V1 was also only a mile, even with a different signal booster!
After getting the Alientech Pro setup on the standard V1 controller, the range is now over 4 miles! You be the judge whether a 300% increase is worth $400 on a $1,700
EVO 2 Pro. I wasted $1200 on the SC V1 solely for the advertised increased range to 8 miles, which was nonexistent! I returned it and spent $400 on a solution that quadrupled the range! Saved $800, and got what I needed. YMMV.
