I am in the market for a 10-inch tablet. No IOS apple for me. What options do I have? Money inst an issue here as I am willing to invest in a good tablet.
I looked at the monitors marketed for use with drones. Was poised to buy the Crystalsky and then the others, each in turn. Meanwhile I studied the forum posts. The screen and other failures, the cost, the sometimes erratic customer service, and the narrower resale market interest steered me right back toward a standard tablet.
Android or iOS tablet, because that's what the apps want. The phone and tablet market is fiercely competitive and manufacturers MUST quickly crank out better and better devices. So I'll tag along with them.
I bought a Galaxy S9 X710 WiFi only , for its size, and dynamic AMOLED high brightness screen, and more than adequate other features. It is water resistant (so called) as well. No HDMI out, and only one USB port, but I don't care.
The model I got is the 11" (or so) screen version at the high end of the S9 series, which is adequate for me and my EVO 1 with 4K camera. Too, it has an eager general market value if and when I decide to sell it. Samsung makes two versions of the S9 with larger screens the S9+ and the S9 Ultra. They made similar S8 and S7 and S6 series tablets with great screens too if those older models suit you.
I am not a professional photo guy. That crowd probably needs a larger screen than mine.
If you decide to follow this course, be very careful. Most of the tablets everyone makes have a range within every model series - differing in screen quality and myriad other variations to suit to a broad market. Most sold have a mid-hundreds NIT brightness. Many sub-series variants lack other features..
I strongly suggest you learn very well the exact model numbers of the AMOLED versions - or the high brightness competitor models that you seek - and don't take any used-market seller's word for what model and style tablet he is selling. Insist on a picture or a peek at the model markings or at the About Device screen, to verify it is the exact version you want. Else you will likely get a disappointing lesser version with low screen brightness that washes out on those sunnier days. Even if that wrong seller tried hard to be honest, it is easy for him to be mistaken.
Many sellers have no idea what particular tablet they own,. They know the model number, perhaps Galaxy Tab S8, and assume all are alike. So, because it LOOKS like a top end one listed someplace, they wrongly assume that is what their tablet is, and he copies that sale ad info into the post.
I'll say it again. WAY too many sellers, not knowing the particulars of the item they own, look around for a like picture, find one, download some specs, and mistakenly declare that is what they have. And the buyer gets disappointed.
Outfits like eBay encourage this by offering a popup "Is Your Item Like THIS?" while a seller types the first words of their item description. And the non-tech seller thinks, "why, yes it is!" and eBay copies the other item's data into the new listing.
If you have the money, buy new. I have to settle for used and have learned a lesson or two and lost a lot of money doing that.
BTW...My experience with different drones and RC devices is limited. It may be worth considering that many tablets have magnets inside, for example in the speakers and to secure a stylus. If your controller has magnetic sensors for a built in compass, or if your drone compass calibrates on power up, you need to know that.
There you have one man's opinions.
