How Many megapixels?

I was uploading some pictures to a new webhost and saw that it listed the bulk of my pictures as 9mp. I thought they were supposed to be 12? I am also not seeing the clarity and color in my photographs that I see in other people's. This is a screenshot of the information from PSP X9. I have not been able to find anywhere other than that web page what the pixel count is and I don't know how correct it is. Most of my photos, even in good light are a bit grainy.

If you want the full 12MP you will need to select 4000x3000 (4x3) photo size in the Camera Parameter Bar.

I had that set that way, I just figured out that most of my stills were shot while in video mode, so it is not the 12mp resolution. I have to switch to camera only to get that.
