Evo Lite + Remote Control Issues

My remote control for my drone no longer wants to turn off. All buttons are functional/click but the power button is unable to turn off the remote. It stays on until it completely dies. When I charge the remote it does not do the usual slow light charge pattern but rather it blinks very very quickly. Has anyone encountered this issue and found a solution??
