Evo II V3 RTK Setup

Hi,
I have brought Autel Evo II RTK V3 on January 4, 2024. I am trying to find RTK module in my remote controller under the setting of Autel Explorer. But I am unable see the RTK module.

Where as the RTK module I am able find in my Android device. The screen shot is attached.

How to locate the RTK module in the remote control. Can you please help me out.
Hi Anilb,

OK, RTK requires you to subscribe to a provider in order to obtain the corrections needed.
For RTK to be enabled, you must be connected,. Your Drone will not take off if you RTK is not connected to the network. It will fly with the RTK Aircraft Feature not enabled.

To connect to a RTK provider. There are a couple options and some harder ones. The easiest is to subscribe to a RTK Corrections provider. Pointe One Navigation is one, who has just recently doubled their pricing structure. The second option is if your are lucky enough to live in a state which the DOT offers free or low fee subscriptions to their service. Google it and find out. Virginia, where I live, discontinued their service through VDOT. The last option, which is FREE, is a service called RTK2GO. Again Google them, they are a community based service that offers free connections to their local base station. Now, the caveat, is that the farther away you are from the base station, your connection will be poorer and your corrections can suffer.

Having said all of that. You will need to set up you login and password on the Remote Controller after you receive them from your RTK Correction provider.

Now once you have done that, you boot up the drone and the RC. You may get a error voice 'RTK IS NOT READY".
If so that means, you can not take off and you have to disable RTK on the RC to take off.
After you are Airborne, 50' or so, away from building and such that block signals. go back in the RC and turn RTK back on.

On the main screen, you will see the RTK icon on top, it will show SINGLE. FLOAT, or FIX.
SINGLE is not connected or no corrections.
FLOAT is connected but not accurate corrections.
FIXED - Is where you want to be. ( You can go back in SETTINGS and scroll down on the RTK screen and see information about your connection to your provided. It will show SUCESSFUL.

Hope that helps, let me know if I did not explain it well.

Dear Kurt,

Thank you very much for providing the detailed information.

But our main problem is we don't see the RTK module in the Smart Controller of Autel. Once that is available then only we can go for the settings as mentioned by you.

Why we don't see the RTK option in the RC.

Please help us.

Anilb, Ok I am a little confused.

First Picture you send, shows RTK as Option in Settings on Remote Control.

Second Picture shows no RTK in Settings ?

When I talk about RTK Module, it is the big Attachment that screws on the top of the Drone.

So, if you have RTK attached to the drone and it is not being recognized by the RC, Make sure that you have up to date firmware.

I have two Autel RTK Drones Ver 3 and never had an instance that the RC once paired with the drone did not recognize the RTK Module in the settings menu.

Dear Kurt,

Greetings of the day!

I will explain you.

First picture what I shared with you is from mobile device where the Autel Explorer is installed, there I am getting RTK module.

The second picture is from the smart control of Autel drone where I don't see the RTK module. Yes our Autel EVO II RTK V3 is fitted with the RTK device on the top of the aircraft.

Initially when we got the new piece we were able to fly without any problem, when we don't find RTK module inside the Autel Explorer we started upgrading the App, Android and Firmware versions.

After doing all these finally we end up with an error message saying that "The Aircraft is out of designated country, can not take off".

Now we are in totally confused status in order to come out this issues and bring the drone back to working condition.

Please help us if you have any solutions on this regard.

Thank you very much for your support.

Yours sincerely

Anilb,

Thank you for clearing that up, I now understand, though don't have a solution for you.

I see that you are not the first person with a Autel Drone in India who is having this "Out of Designated Country" problem.

I would suggest you try this. Re-install the firmware again by downloading it on the RC under the General Settings.
Both the Android Version which lies behind the Explorer app and the Explorer App. I have had good results with downloading directly to the the RC.

Now, I never have been successful upgrading the firmware on the Drone through the RC, Never has worked on two units since I got them.

Here's what I do.

1. Download the Firmware from Autel Site to my computer.
2.. Format a SD Card.
3. Extract the ZIP file to the SD Card
4. Copy the ZIP file to the SD Card ( I know that is probably not needed, but Autel's Software is so strange some times, I do it anyway it case it wants the zip on the drone to extract itself. If it doesn't need it so be it.
5. With RC on , Reboot the Drone. You should see it updating.
6. Shut both down. Take out the SD, replace it with a new formatted one from my computer.
7. Re-Boot both RC and Drone.

Check that ALL three are up to date in General Setting.

I think that the Location has something to do in the Firmware with Geo Fencing and Restricted Areas.

Try that and let me know, I will keep doing some research and will let you know if I find something.

Best of Luck,

Kurt K

Dear Kurt,

Greetings of the day.

Thank you very much the quick reply.
We have downloaded the latest version firmware from the Autel Robotics and installed same by mounting the SD card to the Aircraft. But the problem remain same.
We know all these happened because of upgrading the latest version of firmware. We have some hopes if we able to install the older version firmware, the drone may come back to the flying mode without any issues. First thing we don't know how to roll back to the older, if we do also what is the version of firmware need to be required.
We have the following version of software available on our drone.
1. App version: V3.1.113
2. Firmware version: 1.1.78
3. Android: V1.3.9.16

If we get the proper version of firmware then we should able to bring the back drone to flying condition without any restrictions.

On the Autel Robotics only two versions of firmware is available.

Could you please tell which of version of firmware is installed on your Autel Drone. So that we can look for same version of firmware from other source or means.

Thanking you.

Anil

Anilb.

rcee is correct, APP should be V3.1.117.
You are correct on Android V1.3.9.16

However Firmware is not up to date, New Firmware Dated 11-20-24 V1.2.7
Please note you cannot go back once loaded.

Hope that helps, if not I would contact Autel for help.

I don't have a better solution.

Good Luck.

Kurt
