Hello, dear pilots!

The other day, I let my brother fly my quadcopter, and for some reason, he updated the firmware to V1.9.10. When he returned it to me, I realized I wanted to roll it back—but I didn’t know that downgrading the firmware wasn’t possible. I took an SD card, formatted it, and loaded firmware 1.8.2 onto it. After that, I turned on the remote controller and the quadcopter and left home for about an hour.

When I came back, I saw that the remote had stopped blinking in update mode, but the drone was still blinking. I tried connecting my phone to the remote—the phone made a charging sound, but the app said the remote wasn’t turned on. Then I turned the remote off and back on, but this time, the phone didn’t react at all.

So, it seems I’ve bricked my remote controller. Does anyone know if it’s possible to reflash it using a programmer or some other method?

(Translation note: "Превратил в кирпич" is a common Russian phrase meaning "bricked," i.e., rendered the device unusable like a brick.)

Would appreciate any advice! Thanks!

John, Hi, and I see you just joined. Normally I would be in full agreement, but the latest firmware (Dec, 2024) for the Nano and Lite aircraft is a f$%*ing disaster. Just take the time to review the Nano and Lite forums for the last 6 months. Thanks

Im running the Nano v1.9.10 for quite a while now on daily base [+176 flights!] without any issues.

99% of the ''issues'' you find here are self-created by folks that start fooking around with downgrading by sd card and/or not respecting the update notes, causing firmware and App mismatches that affect the drone functionality. The man in the mirror.

@Dendy: I did it the same way. After then i got no connection beetwen drone an RC.
Autel service told me after an inspection, that core is damaged and has to exchanged for 550 eur.

can you provide more detail from what you said "I did it the same way" ? Do you mean OTA upgrade, or an SD card with new or old firmware? thanks

At first update of firmware and App. Then i'd massive problems. Therefore the trial to rollback to older version via SD.
After then no longer connection between drone and RC. No longer possibility to use update via SD.

Ok, sounds like you performed the upgrade in the recommended way (OTA), and then had problems. If so, that is similar to other pilots with Nano and Lite pilots that tried the December 2024 firmware

I'm very angry because Autel offered me no goodwill solution for their damned update.
