What exactly is the purpose of these downward facing sensors? Something to do with landing, or flying indoors without GPS?.

Ah yes, I knew I had read that somewhere before. Too bad it's not obstacle avoidance, that may have saved me a call to the bucket truck guy Saturday.

OA is not all it is hyped up to be. Maybe in the future but right now it is in its infancy. It will not see thin twigs or wires, etc. It is good with larger objects but smaller thin, not so much. I have it on my Mavic Pro and have experimented with it a bit.
