Hi everyone,

I have an Autel Evo Lite Plus and haven’t updated it yet. I realized this when I was able to fly it at home without GPS. To keep using the drone, I installed an older version of the app (Autel Sky_1.4.68_), which I downloaded from Mirror APK.

It worked sometimes, but not always. Yesterday, I could fly indoors, but today it just stopped connecting. Does anyone have any tips?

I’m talking about the latest 2025 update – let’s call it the “bad update.” Has anyone in Germany or Europe successfully managed to keep their drone working without updating?

Just to be clear, I’m not trying to do anything illegal. But honestly, these updates are taking away our freedom. The ID tracking and speed limits are really frustrating. I don’t think it’s fair.

Would love to hear your thoughts!

Your firmwares / App version need to MATCH. You CAN NOT use firmware on a outdated APP, off course things will get fucked up then.
Check the cohesion on the official website. Autel documents this very clearly.

Yes, that may be, but the funny thing is, I can't update it either. No update is showing for me. I have two devices—one with the new Autel app and one with the old Autel app—neither of them connect. The old app connects when it feels like it; today, it worked twice, then not anymore. I don't get it.

I just hope this gets solved somehow because I have no solution. I contacted support, let's see if they even reply. I bought this drone for the freedom, but in the end, I might as well have gone with DJI. At least then I’d be on the safe side somehow.

You will need to update the App first. The actual version to date is 1.4.113. If you have a lower version [it seems like] you can wait till 2070 and get no update.
It's pretty clearly stated on the webs:

I'm also choosing not to update the firmware. For now, I'm staying at 1.9.9 FW, and running the older 1.6.8 iOS Sky App on my iPad Mini (4). That combination works great and using the older Sky app I'm not hassled with popups to update the firmware. I don't see why you can't do the same with the older Android app, but I tend to think that Autel historically put more development in the Apple Sky app which is why I choose to use the iPad Mini. Makes for a great RC setup.

Very unwise approach. Makes you uninsured. See also above.

I've never seen/heard a legal requirement to be at a particular software level for insurance. If you have evidence otherwise, please present it. And for the above conversation, for our EU friends, then yes, upgrading does look necessary for full compliance. Bottom line for me is I've seen too many complaints from Lite+ and Nano+ pilots after the Dec 2, 2024 firmware release.

I don't see what that has to do with with insurance, which was the question. Also, that FAA statement reads to me as a recommendation, and not mandatory. The 1.9.9 firmware is compliant in the US and legal to fly. I don't see anything in the new 2.0.x release notes to suggest otherwise.

Can't bother your statement. As a Pilot you are Soley responsible for your actions. Fully up t you. I just post for the that take their responsibility.

It's frustrating—according to you, it works, but for me, it only worked partially. I've tried everything: with and without an internet connection, logged in and not logged in to the app, cleared the cache—but I couldn't figure out why my drone sometimes works and sometimes doesn't.

I know that some DJI enthusiasts have cracked drones with enhanced capabilities beyond the standard models. In the Ukraine war, drones are even modified to bypass DJI's tracking system—an essential measure to protect pilots on the Ukrainian side.

I wonder if something like that would be possible here as well. On the other hand, I just want to have fun flying without being constantly monitor

Did you have manged to enter the german ID. I struggling. But it fly without ID. The only point is the speed, that after update it flys just at smooth mode

Hello,

After the update via the SD card, my RC no longer connects to my drone. I am also unable to roll back the update.

Has a solution been found yet?

Best regards,
