New EVO II Favorite Feature - Turn off ALL of the Lights

I have the option to disable the landing light. Do you mean the bottom light? There are several options for it (auto, off, on, flash 1 second, flash 2 seconds).

Yes with my version of the FW I can disable the bottom light but it will always come on when landing at night regardless of the settings.

My newest favorite feature is the ability to turn off both the front AND rear lights on the EVO II. Its almost comical what you can get used to when you use a DJI product, like not being in full control over even the lights on the drone. Many times I wished I could turn off all of the lights on the DJI drones and it was not possible through the app. Even as early as the Phantom 2, DJI has never let you turn off the rear lights and only let you turn off the front lights because they could affect the camera in low light scenarios.

In my area there are so many arbitrary (and usually unenforceable) rules that venues have created to stop people from using drones that every additional option to be inconspicuous is helpful. Tonight was a classic example, I was doing some lowlight filming at a venue that had banned all drones. I simply made sure that I did not take off or land on their property and adhered to all Part 107 regulations as per the FAA vs the venue.

Another drone pilot in the same area was far less cautious, not only was he on their property he was using a DJI drone which of course advertised its exact location with all of the flashing lights. Needless to say, within 5min he was being escorted off the property with a warning that law enforcement would be called if he did it again; meanwhile not a single person knew the EVO II was about 150' higher up filming the content that I needed. Between the low noise props, the ability to disable all of the lights, and the overall quieter operation of the EVO II vs. the DJI drones, this just might be the stealthiest consumer drone money can buy. Of course there is the whole bright orange problem, but a simple vinyl wrap can fix that if needed.
I am not against making things safer - light typically serve this purpose. In addition, it's so much easier to see orange drone when they up against clouds when it's contrasting... common sense :0

im new here fellas.. but this topic caught my eye on a google search so i signed up, wouldve happened eventually..

im in Athens Greece, (Europe) and having the ability to shut the lights off isnt always for questionable reasons.. i currently own a 3T, but switching to the Evo II 640T this season for alot of reasons and this being one..

i landed a contract last year to fly at night for the game and wildlife commission here in greece, with all certification, licensing, registered aircraft, etc.etc.. but, notifications, intentions, memos, etc between authorities somehow always gets lost in the tramsmission :), so after 9 months of flying so far, 36 flights, and getting impounded 22 of those 36 times, it was recommended by the same authorities that impound the aircraft for verificaton and proper paperwork that i disconnect the lights or tape over them to avoid further issues.. same recommendation from the GWC, i tried the tape already but apparently the leds are high powered and melted the tape, creating a disgusting goo all over the aircraft, according to them, they get calls that aliens are coming or some crazy idiotic reason and have to send a car out!! which again, according to them, annoys the officer that is sitting in his patrol car that night.. i kid you not!!!

i get it that they have a job to do, and that job description states impounding the aircraft till business hrs to confirm certification and gov. paperwork if required, which usually isnt the next day, has taken over a week sometimes, delaying the next stop on the weekly calander, i sometimes drive for 4 hrs each way to the state park and having to drive back the next day has become a major pain.. to the point where i even stopped by to tell them ahead of time but they "failed" to inform the night shift.. so i get impounded again..

by the way..
the 3T is currently impounded since Saturday, 2hrs and 20 mins away from home, i got the call to go get it this afternoon so im headed out there tomorrow to get it back.. and get this.. according to them, i should have a commercial drone and not a personal drone for commercial use.. so they impounded it even tho i had the paperwork showing this aircraft was registered for commercial use.. DJI isnt made for commercial use they said!!

food for thought

That sounds like pure insanity, I would just take apart the arms and disconnect the lights if I had to go through that. Good luck with your 640T, hopefully it works out for you; there are many posts on here with buyers regret after buying the 640T. If you do not need thermal then I would definitely at least stick with the regular EVO II...Autel is enterprise class in price only.
