How to switch between video/photo on controller?

When flying with the LCD on the controller, how do you switch between video and still photos? I've been pressing the shutter or record buttons to switch. But then you get unwanted files

You may be able to set one of the programmable buttons to do that.

I thought the programmable buttons were yet in a future firmware upgrade? Currently not working..... has this been changed?
