Hello everyone, time for an FPVFC update. On Tuesday December 17th, the FAA convened a conference call with representatives from the 12 organizations chosen to advise the FAA on the upcoming Safety and Knowledge test. David W Messina and I attended the meeting which was primarily focused on the logistics of the upcoming in person meeting in January. There was not a lot of new information shared during this call but here are a few key points:

* The FAA has the test questions set but cannot share them at this time.

* The 12 organizations in this meeting were picked from a much larger group based on our responses to the Safety and Knowledge Test RFI.

* There is no provision stating that part 107 holders are exempt from being required to take the recreational test.

* The test will be mostly multiple choice with some true/false questions.

* The current test questions are "set in stone" but we should expect a regular audit, review, and update of the questions. How often and what the process will be for that will be a topic for the January meeting.

The purpose of this group is to make recommendations to the FAA related to the training and administration of the test, not the questions. We should focus on what we think the best form is for the training to take. Should it be created solely by the FAA or should it be created by others? Or could the FAA create training material that is then augmented by the CBO's? What should the test be called? What happens if a company that is administering the test goes out of business? Do you have to get all the test questions correct to pass? Those are the kinds of questions we need to be thinking about over the next few weeks.

The next step for the group will be to meet again in January and share our ideas, advice, and opinions with the FAA. This will be a face to face meeting in Washington, D.C. and we will be working on writing down the advice we would like to share with the FAA and make sure Dave is as well prepared as possible. This means we need everyone to give us feedback, join our next Discord meeting, and help us give the best advice possible to the FAA.
