In Europe drones of more than 900gr will have to be equipped with digital identification on May 1, 2020, do you know if Autel has planned the digital identification in the EVO2 as standard (the mavic pro 2 is already equipped with digital signage and they will activate it on May 1, 2020 via an update)

It all depends on the market Autel plans to sell the Evo 2. If they don't plan to sell in the EU, most likely you won't be getting one. That being said, I am sure third parties will create one as an add-on.

If AUTEL comes to read the messages on this forum, I hope that they will do the necessary to include this activatable option on May 1, 2020. Because an American or a Canadian who would travel to Europe for his company or as a tourist will not be able to use his EVO 2!

And for England, it is still in Europe and brexit is not before 2021 or 2022 or 2023, so they also need digital identification!

How exactly would a digital signature work? Does it broadcast it, or is it somehow embedded in the firmware, or on the SD card??

It will have to be broadcast by wifi and it is a digital signature which makes it possible to identify the drone remotely and each drone will have its own personal / private signature

From take-off to landing, each aircraft must send the following information to the public authorities, possibly via an application:

The coordinates of the geographic position of the drone and its altitude
The time and date of this geographic position
The route and the speed of the drone
The coordinates of the geographic position of the take-off point of the drone
The identification number of the electronic or digital reporting device
All this data may be used, according to the draft decree, "for the purpose of judicial, administrative or intelligence inquiries and statistics by the persons empowered for this purpose".

Apparently it could be integrated or not to the drone that means that either the drone sends this information, or it is the remote control which sends the information with the position of the drone.

All drones over 900gr not equipped with digital signature will be prohibited on May 1, 2020 (except drones declare before January 1, 2020 they have an additional period of 6 months), and the police begin to hunt for drones to verify if the pilot who has to declare is a drone or if he has a flight certificate or if he is a professional. When it is to make pay fines / flawsuits they are stronger and faster than to catch thieves and crooks !!! If you get caught it's a fine of 750 € to 1500 € to pay

In Europe it will be more dangerous to have an illegal drone that having a gun !

We must not forget that the other countries of the world look at social engineering in Europe, to get inspired if it works. And DJI could lobby in the USA to set up this operation. As they probably did in Europe

Big Brother government tracking system!

Yes if you pilot a drone in nature and you fart and kill a squirrel with your gas they will know that it is you !!!

Remote ID doesn't bother me much, BUT! The takeoff/pilot location must NOT be available to anyone except FAA (or equivalent) or law enforcement personnel. Some twits see a drone and think that THEY are the targets of SPYING. Grab the app, find the pilot, go confront... The pilot may be forced to defend himself... or worse if she/he is not able...

Excellent thought!
