The lowest I can set is 25 metres (this is done when the Nano+ is airborne). However, I'd like to set it lower as I could then use the Custom RTH point as a fly-to co-ordinate and follow me while cycling etc. Has anyone been able to get it below 25 metres?

Does the NANO lock onto a Rider+Bike shape at all ?
Yep. I tested this when the Auto-tracking was first released. It's not without issues though. It's not particularly fast, so you can soon find yourself out of range and I found that the Nano always ends up behind, low and to my right, regardless of where I start the tracking.

A couple of samples here...

It's worth watching them.through to see how the Nano behaves.

They were great examples TY.
To me it looked like Altitude triggered a Sensor then it paused Tracking.
