It's definitely hard to believe. I'm actually going to make sure to keep the flight logs in case the FAA asks any questions. We do get things like that all the time here in FL though, just not usually something you can climb out of before you hit 400' let alone with the sun setting.

There's also one more trick to drone footage specifically that most people have no idea about.....in the image EXIF data it will tell you exactly how high you were for an image. So I was actually only 317' AGL and ASL.

Yes do keep a flight log... FAA and any government official have the right to ask and look. If you do not comply, they can take your drone away. Don't forget you also must have it registered with the FAA, and your registration must be visible. The registration # must be visible and legible ...

And the trick with clouds/fog is being able to show that you were 2000' horizontal from them, even if above, and if above clouds, that there are no clouds between you and your aircraft for VLOS. With the 6K on the E2P, its very easy to make the clouds look closer than they actually are.
