This old mine is close to town. It rained hard the day before you can see the desert looks wet.
It looks deep but it is an illusion when I was flying back close to the bottom I was minus 7 feet and I was about 10 feet above the ground.

Quite impressive rkyleh when exactly did it cease operation ?

I am not sure but it was early in the history of these mines around here. What little bit I gathered was that they cut to narrow a slot and tried to work to high a wall and had a lot of problems. Also they didn't have enough low grade ore to mix with the high grade and it caused problems in the smelting. Reading any of these PDF's about mining history will put you to sleep in a heart beat.
