Hi All, new here to the forum and absolutely FRUSTRATED with the BS Customer Service AR has, guess they never deal with professional cinematographers. I've been in the film and television industry 30 years. I've added this drone to my complement for broadcast sports (FOX, ESPN, CBS, etc..). The main reason was the camera sensor, smart controller and no geofencing. They did lie to me about never being added to the CMC list, well, we know how that went.

Here's my questions for everyone (which I've asked Autel and given visual ref and nomenclature) many, many times and they say they can't provide an answer? WHAT? How can you market that this is professional and can't have an Engineer give me specs, much less publish them?

They have no idea what IRE is... For those that don't know, with professional broadcast cameras, We have this thing called Zebra Bars which show overexposure of your frame and it's usually set at 95% so when you say, see it in an interview subjects forehead, you are perfectly exposed and not over exposed. They can't tell me what the over exposure warning is on the V3 remote! That's tv 101! Why have it if you can't tell me the setting?

DeFogger is a great tool but they can't tell me if it's adjusting the gamma's in camera as myself and others think it's doing? Are they just crushing the blacks?

ROI... Region of Interest. What the heck does this do? Again, no one can give me an answer. Does it just keep focus on a specific region and focus on the subject?

If I'm missing something, please tell me where to find it. I also want better control over the joystick sensitivity, It should have controllable speed as the tilt, pitch wheel has. I shoot LOG and then color correct everything. If you don't, learn how to paint and make shots beautiful. Shoot RAW photo's and always try to keep the F-stop at a 5.6, ND filters are your friend as well as Polarizer's. Finally, shoot 4K 60fps! No need for 24p, why limit yourself to small amounts of data when you can get so much more in 4K60. Make it pretty in post. I do love the camera and feel it's better than DJI.

Thanks all!!

As a ''professional'' you seem to have spent little time to explore the menu's.
You certainly would have found the settings mentioned. maybe the aircraft is too complicated for you ?
For the camera, check out the official Auel Robotics Youtube channel:

Hi rcee.... I guess being unprofessional, snarky and acting a child bully on a playground is how you do things in the Netherlands. Well, if you had actually read my post, you would've know it was all engineering and not simple hobbyist questions. The video is useless except for the ROI, good to know it doesn't effect the recording.

Now... if you were a professional you would know exactly what I'm talking about. Just knowing something is overexposed doesn't do a thing if you don't know the IRE setting in the camera sensor. If you put it on a waveform and vector scope, what does it show. I'll attach a picture so you know what those are. A histogram is worthless as it really isn't good for instant feedback when glancing at it while in flight.

The DeFogger is altering the video tremendously, hence the gamma part of the question. Compressing the video more to achieve a look makes it more difficult in post.

Oh, I have the smart controller and not a phone, so the settings are very different. I also have the Enterprise version of the aircraft so, night and day difference. The settings are way more advanced in the smart controller. Again, I have engineering questions, not operational questions. Asking if it's to advanced for me is just being rude. This forum isn't the place for that. AR doesn't offer camera specs nor detailed information on the sensor so that's a real problem. Have an awesome day.

BTW.... can you guess or even know what this picture is and how it's used? This is what professionals use to setup, match, color grade single or multiple cameras. We also use it for transmission check-in with the networks. This is standard worldwide.

Very frustrating, I agree.

Would it be possible to take some footage, note when and where on the recording you see the overexposure warning, then play the footage back on an NLE and see what the waveform shows? That might give you some idea of at what video level the warning comes on at.

I've always (50+ years now!) kept zebras much lower than 95% if using them to judge proper skin exposure.

Thanks Bean... appreciate the professionalism. Yes, I've done those tests with and without ND and NDPL (Neutral Density, Polarized Lens). I try to always shoot and an F5.6 - F9, 400-800 ISO so there isn't so much shutter. The 4K 60fps (as mentioned above) really gives tremendous results as you are taking in so much more information. My main reasons for asking the questions was really to know if anyone has found the tech specs of the Sony CMOS, every manufacturer makes this and all camera information available. I can get it from Sony but how is AR's interpretation of this information being affected? I know most consumers of drones today haven't worked in the industry and have been trained to fly, capture footage (usually in auto mode) and dump it off. I always color correct and have been really impressed with how the camera and capture perform.

When individuals reply with snarky remarks when one inquires about the DeFogger, how it's affecting the picture as "whatever" well, they truly don't understand the question nor the industry.

Take care...

You could have asked this question directly. To anticipate your bullying i will reveal only a hint.
It's a IMX and the series number is >5xx :) GL
