Totally new to this drone thing. I ordered a Autel EVO, that according to Fed Ex, is being delivered today! Plan to spend this weekend learning all the rules of safety and how to actually fly it. I'm sure I will have lots of questions for you more experienced flyers.

Welcome to the Forum. I think you will enjoy your membership. There are many other members happy to provide assistance for any issues you may have, and those that may need information you bring. A lot of good information is already stored in existing threads.

Couple easy things:
1.) The search Icon is your friend. It's the magnifying glass near the upper right of the screen when you scroll all the way up. It can find many answers you will never find by yourself.
2.) Be aware that you won't always get a quick response. There are times when many other members are on line, and sometimes only a few. A response may not show up until the right person sees it.
3.) Be aware the forum is Global. If you are exchanging with a member on the other side of the world, response can get delayed and out of sequence due to a difference in local time.
4.) Although the Forum is global, the language is English. It is customary to translate other languages to English. Many members also include the original language post to help alleviate translation errors.
5.) Review the forum rules (on the bottom right). There are not too many, but it is important they are followed to keep the Forum a useful and happy place for everyone.

Hi Coolerman, another Kentucky resident, I'm also a first time drone user, my EVO came yesterday, I accidentally didnt get the package with the crash case but it was a good thing, saw a YouTube video on making your own from a Nanuk 915, and damn this is the case Autel should be using, same color and solid feels like you could drop it 200 feet.

Hello, giorgio. That case looks exactly like the one I got with the rugged kit! Only difference is mine is black. Ordered from B&H Photo. Came with extra battery, charger hub to charge 4 batteries, a Neutral Density filter for the camera lens, and a landing pad.

I registered the drone on Friday. I then spent most of Saturday reading the manuals and watching a lot of You Tube videos on flying and drone safety. Finally Sunday morning I figured it was time to put it in the air! I took my first few flights around my back yard which is about 1 acre with no trees. Had the app set to novice mode and went through 3 batteries learning how to fly, and learning what all the buttons and options do in the app. TOTALLY blown away by this drones ability to fly stably in the high wind area I live in! Only one time did I have to intervene during a landing. It was only off about a foot due to a wind gust, but the props were going to decapitate some of my wife's flowers if I didn't move it!

The only issue I had was knowing exactly where the drone was pointed. If I got to playing with the camera I would loose track of where the drone was actually headed. This resulted in the confusion with "left and right" . As I get more practice I will learn to use the display information to avoid this.

Headed out west for vacation soon and looking forward to back packing into some remote areas and flying.

It's simple. Red lights point forward while the yellow lights point the rear.
