First nice weather in awhile so I took a couple drones out to fly. Was running a waypoint mission with my Evo and the app crashed on my tablet. This has happened one other time, but I restarted the app and it reconnected.

As soon as the app crashed I paused the mission and tried to restart the app. It restarted, but wouldn't connect. I knew where the drone was, but was flying blind. Brought it home, power cycled controller and the app reconnected. Never seen this happen before. I guess experience allowed me to not freak out, but Ive never seen this behavior before. I haven't upgraded to the latest firmware yet so I know it's not that. Probably just a freak occurrence.

There is one other thing I did notice today. Around Christmas time I got the Thor mount and the cables that come with it. Because of the way the cable and mount work the cable has to bend immediately. I think this might be causing an open in the wire because it did discconect and reconnect a few times when the usb cable got bumped. Bad cable maybe?

I had this same problem with my XSP and it ended up being a dirty connection on my phone. I cleaned it and have flown about 8 or 10 flights since with no problems. A whole lot of lint came out of the socket. I could tell after cleaning it that the cable has a much tighter fit and snaps in a lot better. If you clean it, be careful. There's a lot of little pins or tracks that can be easily damaged depending on what type connector your phone or mobile device has.

I had the app crash on my when I switched from video mode to camera mode. Not all the time but when that happens you can simply just disconnect your phone and hit the display button on your controller and use your camera to finish or get home.

I noticed the same thing on my Lifthor, but I also discovered that there's far less stress on the cable and usb port if you route the cable over instead of under the handle plate.

I believe this has something to do with the firmware guys -- I wanted to think it was just bad luck on my last flight -- app didn't crash out completely but crashed and there was NO VIDEO. I didn't freak because this was during pre-flight. I turned everything back off and then on again. It wasn't doing this type of video "white out/blackout" before...

It should not be doing this. Cables have nothing to do with it.

Thanks for the heads up how to recover -- using the controllers display. Next time this happens I will make pictures and hope it is caught on video. I did not have my DU-Recorder running the moment this thing freaked out last time.

More than one person talking about it? It's a problem.

Thanks.

Like I said I haven't updated to the latest firmware.

Oh I missed that part. Has your app updated though? Update come down through Google Play 1 week ago... I was more complaining about the app...

Thanks for the app update info. I won't be updating it until they get it straight.

I'll have to check. My tablet is only for the Evo so it never gets turned on unless I'm getting ready to go flying. It is possible that it picked up the update before I left the house.
