I currently have a DJI Mavic 3 that will not take off if it's in a No Fly Zone. I purchased the Autel Nano because despite living near a no fly zone where I do aerial property photography, this little guy will fly anyway. But now I'd like to see to getting a higher quality drone like the Evo II V3, but I've read conflicting stories on it's geofencing, so I figured asking you all would get me the clearest answer.

Can the EVO II V3 launch/takeoff in a no fly zone? I'm fine with a warning popping up and assuming liability, I just want to be sure that before I spend $2k, I'm not buying a drone that won't even launch, leaving me with the same issue as the DJI Mavic.

I fly the Evo2V3 in NJ across the river from NYC . Between the 3 Major NY airports and other minor airports there are plenty of restricted zones. I have also flown this aircraft with proper permits in the DC area inside the 25 mile zone. I have never had a situation so far where the aircraft refused to take off unlike my previous magic 2 pro.

If your in a warning area it'll work like normal. If you get the dead nuts no fly zone warning (Only seen when your on an airport in surface controlled airspace. Meaning B, C or D airspace), you will be able to take off and fly manually, or use anything from your mission builder. But you will no be able to use smart modes, like the orbit, parallel track, or the like. When trying to use those little extras youll receive the no fly zone warning again and the mode will just not start.

I fly exclusively on airports, so I've got lots of experience with it. If you want to have a drone that will perform smart tracking or anything like that on a controlled airport, you'll need a DJI drone. Autels unlock request system has netted me no response or hope of unlocking those features within their no fly zones. DJIs unlock process is a PITA, but at least you can eventually unlock the drone to perform all features within no fly zones.

I purchased my EVO for the very same reason. I fly a V3 now. Just remember that although it will take off and fly in the restricted air-space that does not mean it's legal. Always check your air-space prior to take-off. (DJI geofences areas well beyond the actual restricted space so having an Autel is a necessity for capturing real estate footage in the Puget Sound area.)
