So, what is the name of this squared off port...is it just a micro USB a ? B? ?? It is definitely square not angles like the true micro ?

It's micro USB like any other micro USB charging device. You're seeing the outside of the case, which is irrelevant It is a micro usb port in there.

Can you use either the usb A or this supposed usb micro port to connect a phone or tablet?
