I see the v2 frequencies are 2.4GHz, 5.8GHz, Auto.
My v1 E2P does 2.4GHz, 900MHz and Auto.
Is this typical of the two versions?

In the datasheet v1 is 900mhz, 2.4ghz but 900 is disabled by firmware app and not only. The standard rc has no 900 mhz antenna connector in place (they have been removed)
V2 is, instead, dual band (both 2.4ghz and 5.8ghz too)

Thanks for the information. Do you suppose the v1 Smart Controller does indeed have access to 900MHz as indicated on my screen? That could give it longer range in some situations (not that I need it, however).

I have tested here in Italy a v1 set (sc+aircraft), but I cannot set 900mhz.
Only 2.4ghz the is option available
