First time night shooting. Took a bit to get the camera adjusted. Couldn’t see anything in my phone screen so these were just shots in the dark (yep. Pun intended)

Aug 31. Southern Maine Aurora displaying waaaaaay up north.

ISO 3200, 8 sec exposure. I know I know. Need to get the ISO down as much as possible...any hints and techniques are welcome

I've used this table for taking aurora time exposures in Alaska. Most of my exposures were 8 to 15 seconds and my DSLR only had an ISO max of 1600 on a 12megapixel chip with a f/2.8 lens. If I could see the lights I could usually get some shots. But of course you really want to pick a night with a high aurora index as the most desirable and easiest to shoot.
