After the latest 1.3.46 update, drone maintains altitude when flying at Ludicrous mode full speed ahead!

Video won't load from within autelpilots as embedded format, you need to go to YouTube.com to see it

Still loses altitude if the drone slows down enough, try fly it in a strong headwind
I flew in Ludicrous mode today and I didn't lose any altitude. At what rate does the Evo start losing altitude. I do admit that I only flew a range of some 50-100 feet and stopped. I did not see any altitude gained physically or in the controller.

I forgot to turn FOA off when setting up and flying @ 34 mph mode. I kept thinking perfect!! I am hitting winds and not loosing altitude.

No worries - Ludicrous mode does this automatically and was able to get right up to full speed where 34 mph mode would not! FOA was messing with the 34 mph setting I assume.

I flew at various altitudes hunting for a gust of wind -- the good news?

EVO STAYS LEVEL IN LUDICROUS ON THIS FIRMWARE!

The bad news -- just like I seen the other day when flying in 34 mph mode -- I hit a head wind and lost altitude. It tries to regain, but never fully regains.

I lowered back down to just over 200' to show it flying level again.

I have not seen this behavior in 22 mph mode that I know of. I've hit plenty of wind gusts in this speed.

It is great it will fly level now -- where so many people have showed it looses altitude in the past firmware revisions!!!

I just bothered with showing the good stuff -- clipped the 34 mph out -- and have the Ludicrous 45 mph test below:

Nah I just tried it then, lost 30m fighting a headwind in ludicrous. I wish it were true but unfortunately this issue remains unresolved (assuming its not by design)

in past videos I have seen and my observation of my Evo, two firmware updates ago - it would loose altitude flat out over distance -- just by the pitch it was taking to achieve those speeds. The further you went - the more you lost. 45 was on my list to stay away.

Now it stays at the same altitude unless you're hit by a wind, on my Evo. 45 just became my friend!

I'll just be sure not to hover so close while zooming along... oh and watching my battery. 34 and 45 eat it up quick!

I'm not seeing any difference, it would only ever dive for me in a strong-ish headwind. It can be very hard to gauge the strength of the wind up there without ATTI mode. On the Mavic I use the RPM meter vs speed to gauge how strong the wind is, on my old phantom letting it drift in ATTI and monitoring the telemetry would give a very good indication of speed and direction.

Dont be afraid to use itludicrous, it can actually be quite efficient in a strong downwind. So while you may eat battery quicker, you will also be travelling much quicker, so the distance covered is same. My Mavic Pro is uncapped and can hit 95km/h in a strong downwind which is nice if you want it to come home nice and fast :) You can use it in a headwind too just be mindful of it not holding altitude, and if the wind kicks up strong enough, you may have no choice but to use it.

So you are flying standard and the winds pick up. How do you cope with panicking as you see it drift against X object while you are going into settings and switching into Ludicrous?

Lol don't use copyright music?

lol. that's funny as I was told I could not use it to make money. that's it. how silly is that? That's common sense. They say any monies, if any ads were played would be paid to the artist.

Upload a video for one person to see -- whoa, I'm gonna be sooooooooo rich. lol errrr I mean the artist -- want be able to carry that big check to the bank.

Just use any music from the No Copyright Songs from youtube. You will be hassle and commercial free.

Pray the quad is high enough so you can return home or find a safe spot to land it and go pick it up (I've had to do this once before)
