Recommendations on Remote ID module for Evo Pro 2

If you are flying as part 107 then each airframe needs a dedicated Remote ID, moving from airframe to airframe only applies to recreational pilots. As far as the module, I am currently leaning toward the Pierce Aerospace B1 at $275 SHG

    PPK in Emlid Studio

My understanding is the *.BIN file is the raw data collected in binary format. The *.obs file is a RINEX formatted file of the GNSS data from the EVO II The Nav files will have to be sourced elsewhere, AFAIK, you only need one set of nav files, so if you are running a base station, you can use...

    Photogrammetry

There are folks who purchase a UAV and then try to monetize it, there are people who are already mapping and purchase a UAV as a new tool for the existing business, I am in the 2nd category. Much easier if you already have a customer base and know the business. Having a UAV and capturing imagery...

    strobe light

If you have the enterprise versions, they come with anti-collision beacon along with RTK, speaker and a flood light, only one option can be active at a time. The Autel strobe is a bit weak IMO, I bought a Foxfurry system for my Ver 2 and I think airframe is identical so should fit. It is very...

Recommendations on Remote ID module for Evo Pro 2

@pedals2paddles is correct. You will NEVER legally be able to do BVLOS with an add on module BUT you may at some point in the future with built in RID with rule changes or a waiver. SHG

IMU calibration fails at step 3

The IMU calibration isn't exactly intuitive, at least for the EVO II which I assume is probably the same for the nano. I was doing it wrong initially until watching some videos, I can't find the one I used, but did find this one today: Maybe watch this video to verify you did the steps...

Suggestions for mapping a large area?

100% correct answer, because you can doesn't mean you should, wrong tool for that size of project.

EVO II Pro/RTK Rectangular Mission Comments

On the first point, it didn't send the drone home, I initiated that because it seemed it was just going to hover forever. I decided to bring it home, change the battery and send it back out and it didn't have that issue again. I will see if I had elevation optimization on, I didn't think so...

What to Expect: EVO II V1 & V2 Series Support Company News2022-11-09 On 10/28 we launched our exciting new EVO II V3 lineup. This new chipset upgrades key features of our well-loved EVO II Series, including increased range, better camera quality, and Live Deck compatibility. While we’re...

Drone News: Pilot Fined w/o TRUST

Last month I was at a work conference (surveying and mapping) and a couple guys from the FAA gave a presentation. In regards to large events like say Super Bowl, there indeed are probably FFA staff in attendance or so they said. Other enforcement actions are complaint driven, but certain events...

EVO II Pro/RTK Rectangular Mission Comments

I was flying a rectangular mission a couple days ago and experienced the following: At end of 1st line the UAV stopped and hovered, I ended up canceling the mission and returned to home and started over. Not sure why it went to a hover? I was getting obstacle above warnings, but nothing above...

Resume mission after battery change - glitch?

After a batty swap, you have to restart the RTK data stream and then resume the mission. The EVO II will re-fly the entire line it was one when the low battery warning popped up and the auto return to home auto initiated.

    RTK Format?

Parts they say, same reason V1 was replaced. There are a few slight improvements, RID, better low light performance and a new live deck, but for basic mapping I think previous versions are probably just as good.

    RTK Format?

Interesting that I have a follower :) Glad I can contribute! Sadly I haven't been flying, super busy with work on non UAV projects, on a two week out of town trip right now, hopefully when I get back after next week I can be home until after the new year. I hope to get the UAV out some this...

    Orthophotogrametry Elevation Processing

NTRIP corrections are going to in general be Latitude/Longitude/Ellipsoidal heights from any RTN in the USA. If working a small area, the Geoid model offset to NAVD88 is going to generally be a constant, HOWEVER, be aware that it really changes place to place, it can be feet different over a...
