I inquired as the the firmware numbers on this controller and explained how to get the info. The seller pasted the FW info on his post once he understood the importance. I offered $90. Here is the comment on his counter offer and his reply after I reminded him that my inquiry gave him the data he needed to sell at all or at a good price, considering the number of bad controllers floating round, and closed by hoping he realized a good price.

You can buy from him if you wish, but I assure you I never would.
Brace your self if you make an offer.
I mentioned the exchange to eBay.

The person does seem a little on the edge LOL, asking for a discount just because you showed him how to find out the firmware version probably sent him to the crazy house. He does have another review that states similar behavior. Keep looking, you will eventually find one, I have EVO 1 complete set with only 2 flights on it but I will only sell the entire package.

Offers were invited, and I made one at $90. His counter offer was 125 - the opening bid price. When I declined that counter-offer is the instant my wellbeing was threatened by the self described "demon" with poor spelling skills. I have 2 EVO1 setups, but one controller was once obviously in the hands of an unskilled electronics experimenter. Broken ribbon connector and a torn out switch. I'd like to replace that one one of these days - before the drone decides it cannot hear a RTH or a turn or a stop command and ends up in pieces or stuck high in one of my trees. Thanks for mentioning your setup is available, but I am not in the market. Because If another EVO showed up here and all 3 were accidentally visible to her at the same time, I'd be in trouble with somebody. I do have a third controller - one of the zillions that were bricked during an update, which I will repair or die trying.

Some DJI shill set up a bot to respond to inquiries, doesn't E bay have a policy about rude behavior?

I reported the exchange. to eBay but have not seen a response.
The listing disappeared from my view and has not showed up in sold or completed listings.
Too bad, too. The firmware version numbers matched my working remotes, so it is likely a good controller. After the exchange, I feared that, if I bought it , it would arrive in pieces, so I disengaged.

But I wanted to inform the group in case the thing was worth $135 (with shipping) to someone who could grit his teeth and send this guy his money. It certainly was not worth that price to me.
For context, I paid about $300 for a complete, uncrashed and well maintained EVO1 setup with all the factory spares. Considering that the EVO1 lacks FCC required ID beacon, gets no support, batteries must be rebuilt by the owner, etc, $300 strikes me as the fair value

I thought a $100-ish offer (including shipping) for the controller was fair. The seller's screaming reply hinted that he disagreed.

So, I have two Evo 1's that work fine. But the FCC beacon is an issue for me. Have you or anyone come up with a good priced beacon that can be attached to the Evo 1? If so, is it light enough that it won't impair the flight quality?

By my rough computations, based on various info sources and likely inaccurate, the EVO1 will meet specs with 40g extra weight onboard. I would aim for the lightest tag I could find, though.

For example, The Drone Tag Beacon weighs in at 16g, and range tests with a drone Detection app showed about 350 foot max detection range. So, if you prefer to comply, but with a short range intercept goal, that might work for you. The short RF range is what I prefer - it is supposed to be a safety thing but this tag solution strikes me as a ridiculous way to realize anti-collision safety. Therefore, I assume it has a different purpose in fact.

So to close that anti-collision safety gap, I always run a Firehouse strobe on my drone because this valley is often used by a helicopter training school that is just over the hill.
Those pilots aren't monitoring for drone tags, I bet, but they are all looking around, and that strobe is visible a lot farther than most beacons are heard.
There are many such range test results online, and the weights of the devices are too.
Of course, the weight of the strobe diminishes the amount of weight the ID tag may donate to the gross weight of the drone. Which is another reason to shop by weight and run with (presumably) one of the shortest range tags
