I had to laugh because I thought the same thing. The middle piece with the snap I would not trust. I suspect it hooks to the back but it is a strange way of doing it.Having just received another addition to my Autel fleet, my new 640T Evo II Pro enterprise, I too do not understand the intended/proper way of utilizing this chest strap/lanyard type system. The reason is that it is not intuitive! there are two hooking clasps plus an additional piece that looks like it somehow attaches to the smart controller in a third position. Yet there seems to be only one small lanyard location on the smart controller on the proximal dorsal side but then the large carrying handle on the distal dorsal side. In other words it is not intuitive and I’m glad you asked because I am certain there are many others that are wondering the same thing and like me just decided to not use it until I can figure it out later.
I also know how to use Google and YouTube search and with a variety of different keywords and Boolean search parameter changes, I am still not able to find anything that has been posted on this by any individual or certainly not the manufacture. So it’s either not tagged correctly if there is an instructional video out there or it doesn’t exist yet.
I guess we’ll wait until someone smarter than us decides to post one. Lol
It is not a well thought-out design. I did this mod. Be sure and replace the attachment pads with an industrial quality double-sided tape, like 3M. It has been working for me for about six months now. See Pics.I feel very stupid asking this, but how do you use chest strap that comes with smart controller? Nothing in the manual and I tried searching online and here...

I think the hooks go to the handle but I don't like that either.
I will probably attach to a tripod!

See my answer to Len.I'm unable to locate the video(s) I viewed. Bottom line: the Autel strap design isn't my cup of tea and I feel it can easily be improved. That said, here is now I have it hooked up the few times I used it (mostly I leave it off):
- the short single button strap threads through the rectangular loop at the rear bottom of the controller case
- the two circular snap clips onto the small relief of the large controller handle spanning the rear top.
As I see it, there is no other method which maintain the balance of the controller. The snap clip is of a fixed size/opening that defies any other location as a fastening point
One person posted a video objecting to the circular clip locations as the clips will easily scour the metal finish of the top bar. They suggested looping zip ties to the metal handle and attaching the snap clips onto the zip ties instead.
What I did instead was to loop velcro around the metal handle and attached the snap clips to the velcro. I felt the fabric of the velcro was softer and kinder to the metal handle vs the zip tie.
I live 30 mins from Autel USA but it hasn't been enough of a nagging issue for me to drive there just to have this answered..... yet.
