The bigger liability to me is that Micro USB tips and sockets are pretty fragile. Each time a MicroUSB cable end is bumped or struck, it tends to loosen the socket over time until it's no longer reliable (even if the damage isn't obvious). So I don't like leaving anything plugged into them. OTOH, I do like leaving a robust 12" data-spec'd right-angle USB-A to C short cable I found for the Standard Controller plugged in 24/7 as it wraps around it nicely for storage, also leaves MicroUSB port available for charging with much less wear & tear
