Primary and secondary remote control pairing. What can I do which any one?

With the lost of my E2P (RIP) I got another Evo 2. Now with 2 controllers the App let me pair a primary and a secondary controller. I don't find anywhere what is the function of each one. Anyone had this experience or can me direct to a tutorial or instructions of the function of each one?
