I thought about posting this in 'General Discussions', but since this pertains to the EVO II RC, I decided to post here.
So I've been getting the itch to head down to our local greenway and run my bike up and down the paved trail and have my drone do a parallel track on me. It's a little tight down there, so I'm not convinced this is the best idea, but during my debating, I knew I would need to keep my RC firmly in my reach and field of view. The best way to accomplish that is mount it on the handle bars.
I am unaware of any solutions out there specifically tailored to mounting the EVO II RC. So I started looking at smart phone mounts. Many of the generic ones have a handlebar mounting ring of course, a flat surface and four rubber bands intended to wrap around the corners of the phone and pin it against the flat surface.
See attached photos.
Not knowing whatsoever how it might work, I bought the $9.99 Schwinn model. Wow, homerun. Two of the rubber bands loop around the foldout handles, and I looped the other two around the base of the RC's smartphone clamp. I then attached my Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G with a case (I think the largest and heaviest phone out there) and it is holding firm. See for yourself. In addition to the pictures here, you can check out this youtube video I posted showing the mount in action. I started off with a lower angle shot, then brought the camera up to my eye level so you can see what the rider sees.
All thoughts, welcome, if you know of a better solution, I'm still interested!
