Off topic...but riveting news

In the news since last week I have been following the saga of those young boys and their coach trapped in a cave in Thailand. They have been found since last Monday and obviously in a bad pinch but with so many specialists tending to the situation one would think they could bring the boys back one by one before the impending monsoon rain makes it even harder, it is Thursday and they're trying to bring a fiber link so they can reach their parents. I don't know but if you ask me it is a little too late to expend the experts's divers time for this unless it has already been decided they will wait it out until everything's dry.

Everyone got to where they are now without being experts but now with water thrown in to mix the deck
I agree it is very much a different game but not impossible with all the resources now available at play.
Oh well following the saga with hopefully a happy ending.

They are so far in it is extremely dangerous even for trained divers. You are essentially going blind, through chocolate milk with twisting & turning passages that go up & down. A very difficult dive for sure let alone a novice. I dive and I know I would not look forward to a dive like that.

Having only dived snorkeling I cannot even begin to understand what the experts divers go through in that kind of situation.
But from what I gleaned is they already have a line rope and the water level is as low as can be given the amount of pumping they did so far and I understand the kids won't have to
carry a tank to get jammed with and there would be one diver ahead and one after. How do two divers communicate in almost zero vis advancing in these tunnels ? With proper previous instructions one should be able to advance properly and safely don't you think ? I mean what else ? I would start with the coach being the first time is a first for everyone and learn with the best person in the group.

I can't believe at this point there was not an attempt to try and get out, now we hear that they may have dwindling oxygen so I guess forget any fissures that may be present to the surface,
and to top it there is a first fatality which shows the danger those caves represent.
I also hear that the US Navy seals have a ship nearby which they could suck the passage way dry with their pumping equipment. Is it pride that gets in the way ?
Better hope not but time is slipping.
