Every day my EVO2 Pro starts naming clips MAX_0001 upward, I did not find an option to tell him not to do this - please help?
And for Autel - it'll be a lot better to name files with android phone style - DatetimeNumber now is crazy having several 0001's for 2 days :( :(

I know the DJI Go App allows you the change it in the settings so I don't see why Autel cannot do the same. Send them a email and suggest it in a future update. They will not do anything unless people complain or suggest a improvement.

Please tell me where to complain and I\ll send them a message - this is laughable

One way is to copy the last photo and leave it on the card. This way it will continue all the way up to 9999 then I think it starts over.

My understanding is that it's even worse than that..

Doesn't it only go to 999 then it creates a new folder on the card and starts at 0001 again? ?‍♂️

I agree with Augustine's response as I as an amateur photographer ran into the same problem when I first encountered how Autel set this thing up. It is not like every major camera company. It is almost a silly glitch if you ask me. Nevertheless, let me add I do not take the sd card out of the drone as it is very fragile as you know. The less you handle it the better. I use the USB-C cord to connect the drone to my computer. FIRST, plug in the cable to the drone. IMPORTANT Remove the gimble cover and turn it on. It is a snap to MOVE all the files but the last one and you just COPY hence leaving it on the card for your next flight!. This will keep the sequence going!

And to save size on the SD, also delete the last file, for example MAX_0089.MP4, and create a fake MAX_0089.mp4 file with a simple word processor like Notepad (windows) named MAX_0089.txt that you then rename MAX_0089 .mp4.
You thus gain from 3 to 5 GB on the card.

Appreciate your point but why go through that trouble when you could just take a “trash” jpg by pressing the button on the way down. Then you don’t have to create anything. Just leave the jpg. on the drone - this way you don’t even have to copy the last file since you know it was a “trash” shot!

We as a species are Very adaptive - we can adapt even to this ridiculous omission which can be corrected wit 2 lines of code from Autel coders ;) :) but we will shoot pointless .jpg's keep them on an SD card, next time delete them and repeat the steps ... in order to save those 2 lines of code effort ;) :)
Thank You

My workaround is to rename the files on import to Lightroom. I actually do this on all my photos anyway so it's not an issue for me. Outside of LR it is a PIA though.
My convention: YYYY MM DD Subject-Original File Name.***

with pictures it's ease - but I shoot movies exclusively - now I have one dummy pic and rename it every time in order to have some continued numbering :(

I shoot movies too. Lightroom renaming feature works on videos files also.

Create a short video or a photo file near the end of your flights. Just leave that file on the SD card while moving all the other files to your computer. Simple. Fast. Effective.
