When I go to saved flight logs and i play it, it goes haywire. Also the map shows me flying over to Africa. What the heck??

It's odd that is happening but yes it does sometimes. That is where the coordinates 0°N 0°E are, otherwise known as Null Island. So your GPS is just unable to find it's position at all and returns zero/null sometimes.
