Just finished my mod to the Evo controller and tested it, it works very well, blasts through the trees and keeps the video reception crystal clear at almost any distance.
Would like to thank Jake @ Maxx UAV for the DJI - Amplifier Mount as well as 4 Hawks for the Evo Raptor SR as well as all the accessories.
More thank yous to www.thorsdroneworld.com for the Evo Lifthor and all their accessories.20190718_184101.jpg20190727_095046.jpg20190727_095253.jpg20190727_095325.jpg20190727_095445.jpg20190727_095553.jpg20190727_095704.jpg20190727_095834.jpg20190727_095925.jpg

Jake does a great job! I had an almost identical setup for the P4. It was solid out to 5 miles! The setups 5 mile range certainly exceeds the stock EVO battery life on a roundtrip flight, requiring a battery mod to support the full range, which would require adding external aircraft batteries in parallel, just as I had to do on the P4. My biggest complaint about the amped DBS-02 setup is the extra weight from the amps and amp battery, and lack of easy portability. I had to use a shoulder harness tray underneath to support all the extra weight, and another neck harness to keep it all in the tray. Works great, but gives up the small form factor of the stock EVO setup, which is one of its many strengths, where everything fits easily into the small shoulder bag with two extra batteries.

So are you saying that you added batteries to the drone? If so, how much more time did you achieve? It seems the extra weight would give you a penalty in altitude and maneuverability.

Yes! The stock flight time was about 20 minutes. Doubling the total mAH by adding two external batteries added another 7 to 8 minutes of flight time, which significantly added video time at a destination 4-5 miles away. It actually made the drone more stable in wind due to the extra weight, and had no other affect on altitude or maneuverability. After all, it's a flying camera, not a racing drone.

Thanks. But I am surprised that two batteries only added 7 or 8 minutes. I would have thought another 20 minutes, since adding weight would indeed shorten flight, but not by that much.

The extra weight must be carried for the entire duration of the flight, not just after the internal battery is exhausted. Stock P4 battery was 5350 mAh. Adding two external 2400 mAH batteries weighing a total of 500g, is a significant payload. However, even though the total increased flight time was only 35%, the increased video time at a target destination 4 miles away went from 1 minute to 8 minutes, a 700% increase!
