Can the control adjust the aperture without using a mobile phone app?

So I've tried to change my settings of the Pro whilst having my phone connected and for some reason cannot figure out what I'm doing incorrect.
Any suggestions? I know it's vague but I have to have some setting that's locking it into Auto

Yes it can, once u set it from Auto to Apenture Priority. Works with & whitout phone here.
