Bottom-facing sensors

I heard that the bottom facing sensor on the Nano+ is not working and this leads to hard landings. Also when you put your hand underneath the drone in mid-flight, it doesn't notice (the Mini 2 will jump).
Can anyone confirm or deny this?

I flew mine Saturday with the latest firmware update and it was a very soft landing so whatever the issue was it appears fixed now.
