A Criminal Gang Used a Drone Swarm To Obstruct an FBI Hostage Raid

I would have to list this under fake news or at least highly exaggerated. A simple load of bird shot would eliminate buzzing drones in a heartbeat and to down load to YouTube in real time to monitor what agents are doing is a stretch. I think the guy has a vivid imagination.

I don't believe that "Some criminal organizations have begun to use drones as part of witness intimidation schemes: they continuously surveil police departments and precincts in order to see “who is going in and out of the facility and who might be co-operating with police....”

Constantly scrutinizing visitors to the police department by keeping a drone above the door is a dream.

All the hype is part of the 74 member group that forms ARC.
There are members on there that want to remove your right to fly UAV's (revoke section 336)
The group represents a very broad base of stakeholders. Members range from major drone manufacturers of all types like Northrup Grumman, DJI, Insitu, and PrecisionHawk to drone platforms including AirMap and Skyward. The list also includes a long list of large corporate enterprises – both drone-related businesses and drone customers; advocacy groups like AUVSI and the Commercial Drone Alliance, research institutions, and government and law enforcement agencies. With so many members, the ARC may have difficulty reaching a conclusion, but they will certainly hear multiple sides of the issue.

The ARC is significant, having the potential to affect every drone operator and manufacturer. Decisions made by this group could influence regulation that defines how much information is gathered about drone operators themselves, their clients and their operations.

The incident remains “law enforcement-sensitive”.

The author only knows a part of the story, the part the FBI wants public, the full story is unknown...
