All modern consumer drones work on the same 2.4/5.8GHz channels with same basic principles of modulation/(de)multiplexing/encoding. The incompatibility of different devices is rarely physical. It is forced by manufacturers on software level.
Sorry, I'm a bit pessimistic :)
My impression is that AR uses consumer drones only to better promote corporate products. The company is not oriented on consumer support and doesn't show big moves in this direction.
