Tales from a noob... +300 hours

I just pictured that visual in my mind. I usually fly it at 10 meters and it would either hit wet pasture or cow ****. None of them are good. :-) Thanks for $3000 nightmare! I really appreciate your input and will keep the forum informed. Good or Bad. I am an old "techie" (since 1976) so...

Tales from a noob... +300 hours

Is that the air-frame or the metal housing of the computer? Thank you for the info. Any tips for maintenance of the fragile parts beside praying? I have lots of Gaffer tape in the shed. :-)

Tales from a noob... +300 hours

Cheers Paul. I keep getting told it is the best investment I have made. Do you have any idea of the longevity of the motors? All the other farm gear needs maintenance every 50 hours. I feel guilty not do anything to it.... :-) PS: 2 neighbours have bought one. One of them is upgrading to...

Tales from a noob... +300 hours

Nearly 1000 flights and 6000km. I have been amazed at the reliability and still wonder how many hours I can expect before the motors fail. Most of the hours are pre-set missions to monitor cattle and protect our crop from birds. I have replaced the propellers twice, bought 4 more batteries, 2...

Caught in the rain - short video

1 minute video Caught in a sudden sun-shower and pressed the "Go Home" button. I let the drone and battery dry for 24 hours and it has flown since without issue.

Convert Explorer Mission TXT files to KML: A simple utility

It would be fairly easy to create an XML transform to convert KML to Explorer JSON, but I think the Explorer App uses a built-in database to register the Mission. Accessing and then writing to the database would not be trivial without some source code.

Convert Explorer Mission TXT files to KML: A simple utility

I could not find an easy way to transfer my Missions from the Standard Controller to the Smart Controller, so I decided to see what I could knock up. Attached is a HTML (Download the TXT file and change the extension to ".html") file that will convert Waypoint and Rectangle Missions from the...

Firmware update via Smart Controller and GPS issue. - SOLVED

Thanks Dave. That link was quite elusive. I am upgrading it now and will give feedback when done.

Firmware update via Smart Controller and GPS issue. - SOLVED

I recently purchased the Smart Controller V2 for my EVO II Pro V2 Start up and pairing was OK. I was connected to the internet and went to set up some missions but the Map functionality is broken. None of the three modes (normal, hybrid, satellite) show anything. Even when I set the "Home...

    >> Try Dual Stability mode, Will do. I'd love to be able to it flight down the creeks at low altitude. >> I can see the benefits of using an Evo 2 for your type of work, it’s a tool and will pay for itself. Absolutely. What has impressed the Boss (aka wife) so far, is the visual shot of...

    Tales from a noob...

Thanks Paul. It has been a great experience. As you can tell, I have not done much manual flying. The inversion of the pitch controls from conventional aircraft is something I am working on. As for the Smart Controller.... Once of those new calves will pay for it (with change!) :-)

    Tales from a noob...

Thanks for the suggestions Dave. I usually follow the App's recommendation at 25% but I wanted to see it perform that low. > Don't send it off with less than a full charge Noted. > Try to always have your batteries above 60 deg. F when launching. That is not usually a problem in Australia...

    Tales from a noob...

This is my first drone. EVO II Pro 6K V2. It was purchased to monitor my cattle and crops. I bought a bundle that came with a spare battery and hard case. Day 1) Unpack, read manuals, charge batteries, view tutorials. The controller took 6 hours to fully charge. It was at 53%...
