Is it even safe for the drone to be in snow and windy conditions ?

These birds can handle it. Just take extra precautions open areas, stay away from trees, and stay 50 ' above the tree line.

Seems like a foolish risk when the wind will die down soon enough and you can get a nice view of the fresh snow without as much risk.

This is not a cheap throw away product.

I wish, I'm in Florida, but if I was up there I'd definitely have gotten some footage.

No risk no reward, I'd chance it. Anyone can get footage of snow on the ground.....falling snow is a different story.
