As a kid I started in the '70 flying small home built radio controlled airplanes, but after high school was over I donated all planes and devices to the local club. When in 2020 Covid kicked in and we were bound to stay at home as much as possible I again started my flying hobby experimenting with drones. The first one, a F450 with Naze flight controller, did some nice flying although the flightcontroller was a bit basic. As experiment I built some smaller drones with the smaller brushed motors and 3D printed frames, the smalles not larger than 8x8cm, perfect for indoor flying and chasing pigeons from the garden.
Recently I decided I to do some more serious drone-photographing and got myself an Autel EVO II Pro V3. The first impressions are quite impressive, the image quality, stability and positioning were beyond my expectation. I've shot some really nice pictures and did some waypoint tracks which were really amazing. Still there is a lot which I do not understand, like why the drone splits the footage at each waypoint, why I cannot enter my Remote ID, and the firmware upgrade process is completely unclear for me, even following the step by step procedures in the manual. I hope to find some help in this forum and finally hope with the experience I'll get be able to help others,

1 Make sure your FW is up to date.

This is the correct proces:
1] Make sure all battery's are FULL battery's FULL
2]Turn on AIRCRAFT & REMOTE
3]Make sure your remote is connected to a wifi network.
4]In remote go camera/ ''gear'' icon [top right] / general / software update.
5] First update the android system, follow instructions. [ make sure to select ''online update'']
6] Second: Update the APP version
7] Last: Update aircraft FW, the process can take long time! 30 minutes is no exeption. [Hence battery full !] WAIT TILL REAR ARMS LED's ARE SOLID GREEN
8] During aircraft fw update: Watch rear arm LED:
9] Never abort the fw update when the rear arms not solid green.
10] Repeat the procedure above to make sure the fw is at its latest version.
11] If all ok, perform IMU / compass & gimbal calibrations.
12] Calibrate the remote controller sticks. [

Thanks rcee! Problem is I get stuck at step 5, where my smartcontroller gives one option to update: "Android System". When I select that, is says "No USB flash disk is detected..." It does not automatically find the android system to be updated. I have not found any download location where I could find the correct file to install at this point.

Also the Remote ID insist that my ID is invalid.

In the About section, it tells the APP version is 3.14.17 and the Flight Control version firmware is 5.0.82. Does this shed any light on the fact that I cannot update? I've also sent an e-mail to the seller (Autel Pilot EU), but they are not very responsive...

I do not get the option "online update", it only complains there is no USB flash disk inserted. On both the drone as on the Remote Control there are SD cards installed with sufficient free space.

I could try to manually upload the installation file which I downloaded from the Autel Robotics site, but as the pre-installed firmware versions are in some ways inconsistent with the versions in the Firmware Table, I'm a bit hesitant to actually perform this upgrade.

With repect to the Remote ID you were fully right: I mixed the A2 certificate number with the 'Expointant' number. The latter was indeed accepted. Great help!

It's strange but I only have the option "Android System" and in that option I only have the option "USB flash disk update". Meanwhile I updated the firmware using the SD card in the drone, which was succesful. But still NO change in the "Software update" menu. So, to be clear, the options "APP" and "Aircraft Firmware" are not available. And the remote controller is connected to internet through wifi and I do have SD-cards both in the remote control and in the drone.
I'll contact Autel Robotics as this seems to be unusual...

Edit:
Screenshots of Software update pages:

Your remote is already on 7.0.3.23 this is the latest version.
Looks you on a old app version. Could you execute the App update from controller?

No, the APP on the controller (shown ans UAV) on the start screen, indicates it has version V3.14.17. Which is definitely another version as the latest version on the Autel Robotics website. I'm now on contact with Autel Robotics support on this. They advised to install their latest version (V3.1.125), but that won't install.
I'll be back when I have a solution from AR-support...

The after sales support of Autel EU ([email protected]) responds to my question why the V3.1.125 version does not install whereas the V3.14.17 is installed:

"Please kindly note that this is the latest controller APP version and you can feel free to fly it safely."

So apparently there is, at least for the EVO II Pro V3 a software version for the Smart Remote Controller which is 13 versions ahead of the official version which is availeble from the Autel Robotics website.

Hi everyone 👋
I'm new to the forum and new to Autel. I hope to find some good friends with this in common.
I have an issue I hope someone here may advise me on a solution.
I got the evo II pro rtk v3 drone with smart controller. I see all the YouTube videos showing Chrome browser on the controller's home screen. My controller doesn't have it. I understand I need to manually install Chrome.apk.
So... Can someone please provide me a link to a trusted download for this. Going through Google only pushes me to play store instead of an apk download.
And... One site I found, that might be the right apk files, says the file requires a trichrome library. Do I need this? Or is the controller equipped with this already.
Lastly... What is the Arch Version for this controller? [X86] or [x86 + x86_64]

1] You capture someone else it's topic, surprisingly even the mods support this.
2] However, im pretty sure chrome is baked into android and your smart controller. swipe up from bottom and find the search bar. you might need to swipe up / down or left right from the screens.
