None of both, EVO V3 use a exclusive variant for 6.4 & 7.9 smartcontroller:
To be save, use the build in update system in your smartcontroller [settings/general/software update].
Ensure your batteries are fully charged before you start the update [controller aswell drone]

2] Update Explorer app
3] [always as last in this sequence] Update the aircraft firmware.
4] Have Patience, updates take long. Don't interrupt

Had similar confusion (disappointment) after learning V3 has less intelligent fight modes than V2.
