I don't ever plan on having mine on the water (in / on a boat). They don't always return to home in the exact take off spot and boats in general aren't all that large unless it's an offshore boat. Even a 5 foot discrepancy can put it in the water... Not for me.

One can always cancel RTH at any point and manually land where one wants.

Fair statement. But even than a rocking boat deck of limited space can still be dicey.
