Exactly right. I’m so used to his honest opinions, I rarely watch others now... Really good analysis of the 2019 market.Yup and he is honest about what he reports on. I have known Steve for a long time and he reports the bad and the good.
I think your right about Autel. Why else would they discontinue a well likes line like the x-star? I think that due to their size they relegated to focusing on one line at a time. I know i would save up for a 1” sensor evo and still keep my current one!Exactly right. I’m so used to his honest opinions, I rarely watch others now... Really good analysis of the 2019 market.
So, will Evo get a 1” sensor? IMHO it has to to stay relevant. Like Capt suggests, I’d keep selling the older model too ($799?), something Autel doesn’t seem to want to do, or maybe they don’t have the staff/resources to support 2 products??
I’m just thinking they don’t have enough coders to keep-up with firmware updates for more than one line at a time. X-Star design still had life in it... Heck DJI still sells the Phatom 4, with a better camera and better OA — and will for another 6 months easy. Evo is a solid design on many levels, if they could make a Pro model with an even better camera, I think it would take some of the higher-end prosumer market. We know Autel has a knack for getting the most out of their sensor/lens combos, so why not make 2 very similar models that compete with anyone in that space?I think your right about Autel. I don't think they will fail... We are talking about Autel robotics. Not Walkera, which is an awful drone company. I am pretty sure they are selling the Evo like fresh hot cakes.I’m just hoping that support for the Evo doesent drop out of the blue. I’m fully vested in wanting this little bird to succeed!
And, they still support the XSP pretty well too...I’m just hoping that support for the Evo doesent drop out of the blue. I’m fully vested in wanting this little bird to succeed!

It is exactly why they didn't release it.Maybe there was something in it that would have helped DJI's case against Autel at the time
And, they still support the XSP pretty well too...
Support and upgrades are two different things.
Hmmm... not going to agree with you on that.
I agree 100%, but one of the reasons I bought one was because they promoted the modular design of their copter. I remember many threads touting being able to upgrade without needing to buy a new bird.Support and upgrades are two different things.
There were a few reasons why I bought mine too. The support remains top notch though. I hope the EVO people get their promises. If not they will realize our frustrations and understand how and why we are not buying into the EVO.......... yetI agree 100%, but one of the reasons I bought one was because they promoted the modular design of their copter. Send in an XSP for any kind of repair. A friend just did from Hawaii, service was excellent, had it back in 14 days — shipping from outer islands & back taking most of the time, which Autel paid for...
